Model EB-3-360-5 – notable features:
The General Signals’ Electronic Crossing Bell is a totally electric device which has no moving parts that may result in mechanical failure due to weather, pests, or fatigue.
The sound of a mechanical bell has been permanently recorded on a micro-chip and is then played back through an outdoor speaker utilizing 16-bit sound technology. The sound of the electronic bell cannot be distinguished from that of an actual mechanical bell. No special wiring is required; the unit is connected to the same wire leads that would be used for a mechanical bell.
The cylindrical plastic housing measures 6″ dia. and 18″ high and is durable, weatherable and lightweight (less than 10 pounds). This allows the unit to be easily installed by one man and it is virtually maintenance free!
The electronic circuit draws less than 0.15 amps, which is approximately 10% of the current draw of a typical mechanical bell.
The bell meets all applicable AAR recommendations,
and pertinent specifications are as follows:
- 250 strokes per minute
- Has sound reading range of 85 to 95 decibels in a 180° plane
- Operating voltage of 7.5 to 17.5 volts DC
- Mounts directly to a 4 or 5 inch mast
- 16 bit sound technology
